A hunt has been launched in Hampshire for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run in which a teenage pedestrian died in the early hours of today.
Between 2.30am and 3.30am, the 19-year-old man is believed to have been in collision with a car on the A287 between Crondall and Odiham bypass, during heavy rain.
The injured man was found by a passer-by and died later from his injuries, according to Hampshire police.
A force spokesman said: ''At this stage we are looking for a car that was involved in this incident.
''It is likely that this vehicle sustained damage to the front of the vehicle, headlight and windscreen/windows.
''We are also interested to hear from anybody who saw a pedestrian on this road between the hours of 2.30am and 3.30am this morning.''
The spokesman added that a post-mortem examination would be carried out tomorrow by a Home Office pathologist to establish an exact cause of death and the coroner had been notified.
He said that although next of kin had been informed, formal identification procedures were not yet completed.
