Organisers from one of the world's most famous carnival procession helped to ensure the Thornhill Carnival Parade in Southampton was every bit as spectacular.
During the past few months members of Notting Hill Carnival have been working with local community groups offering ideas on costumes, head decorations and themes.
The eye-catching end result involved around 20 people dressed up in richly coloured red and gold costumes in line with the 'Calling of the Gods' theme.
Their 40-minute procession from the Eastpoint Centre in Burgoyne Road was one of the highlights of the funfilled Thornhill Community Festival.
Organisers estimate around 5,000 people of all ages turned up to the event where there was truly something for everyone.
A fashion show, breakdancing and street dancing workshops, as well as a mountain bike aerial display team were just some of the attractions for the younger members in the crowd.
There were also popular tea dances for the over fifties, arts and crafts workshops and plenty of stalls raising money for local charities.
Visitors could also find out useful information on everything from healthy eating tips to sorting out financial problems thanks to community information stands.
Thornhill Plus You, an organisation funded by the government's New Deal for Communities Regeneration money, helped to organise the event.
Spokesman Lucy Huitson said: "The day has been a wonderful community event. People of all ages from Thornhill and across the Southampton area have been able to enjoy all the different activities for the different age groups."
