HIGHWAYS agency bosses have admitted they were "disappointed" after just a handful of people turned-up to a public exhibition outlining jam-busting plans for the M27.
The five-hour exhibition, staged at Portchester Parish Hall, on Friday, attracted just seven people to see plans for adding "climbing lanes" to Portsdown Hill between Fareham and Portsmouth at junctions 11 and 12 of the motorway.
The low turn-out was in spite of agency bosses hand-delivering around 1,800 leaflets to nearby homes, and taking out adverts in the local press.
The scheme's project manager David Stock said: "It is disappointing nobody turned up. To be fair though, we did hold an earlier exhibition in November."
The scheme forms part of a planned £73m upgrade of the M27 which is aimed at easing rush-hour congestion along the crowded motorway.
Other elements of the project include adding an extra lane to each side of the carriageway past Rownhams services between junction three with the M271 and junction four with the M3.
