FOR the first time ever, The Anvil's Christmas pantomime will be Peter Pan - the enduring story of the boy who never grew old.

Undoubtedly, one of the most famous and best-loved stories for children, Peter Pan is an unforgettable, magical fantasy that has been enjoyed by generations for more than a hundred years and appeals to the child in us all.

Fly far away to Neverland with Peter Pan and Wendy, John and Michael Darling. Meet Indians, the Lost Boys and the fairies led by the mischievous Tinkerbell. Boo and hiss as the evil pirate Captain Hook as his motley crew take on the children - but beware of the crocodile that ticks!

Taking the role of Captain Hook is Gary Turner. Gary Turner's steamy storylines as Spanish chef Carlos Diaz in ITV's Emmerdale won him a legion of female fans. He appeared in the award-winning drama serial for two years and returned in 2004 for some special episodes. He has appeared in many pantomimes and has played Captain Hook a couple of years running.

Richard Elis will play Smee. Richard is best known as Huw Edwards from BBC's EastEnders. More recently, he has appeared in Casualty. Basingstoke audiences may also have seen him as Vincent in Small Change at the Haymarket Theatre. He has enjoyed huge success in panto, previously playing Buttons in Cinderella, Wishee Washee in Aladdin and Smee last year in Peter Pan in Mansfield.

Kasia Haddad will play Tiger Lily. Kasia is loved by millions of children as Josie Jump, the gym teacher who lives in the yellow house in BBC's popular Balamory. Her first professional television was on Doctors on BBC1. She has appeared in panto as the genie in Aladdin and Tiger Lily in Peter Pan.

John and Michael Darling and The Lost Boys, will be played by children from Kelly Hopkins Theatre Arts, Lisa Jane School, Basingstoke Academy of Dancing and Frogmore Dance School.

The Pirate Crew are the comedy acrobatic troupe The Nitwits. Peter Pan runs from December 15 to January 7 and ticket prices start at £12 (with a donation going to Great Ormond Street Hospital). Call the box office on 01256 844244.
