THE biggest exhibition of James Bond cars ever staged will include several vehicles never seen in public before.

Exhibits have begun to arrive at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, which is preparing to mark the 50th anniversary of the first 007 movie.

The display will open on January 17 with 50 iconic cars going on show, some for the first time.

Those making their public debut include a Ford Mustang Mach 1 from Diamonds Are Forever, a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow from The World Is Not Enough, and the 1962 Rolls pushed into a lake in A View to a Kill in a bid to drown 007.

The 11-month exhibition, Bond in Motion, will also feature other forms of transport never displayed before.

They include the Union Jack parachute used by Gustav Graves in Die Another Day and the capsule that was placed inside a gas pipeline to smuggle Georgi Koskov across the border in The Living Daylights.

More than 20 Bond movies have been made over the past four decades, starting with Dr No in 1962.

They have grossed a total of $5 billion dollars, making them the second highest-earning film series behind Harry Potter.

The National Motor Museum has been exhibiting Bond cars and other objects from the films for several years.

Visitors have included the Swedish actress Maud Adams, who played Scaramanga’s ill-fated girlfriend in The Man with the Golden Gun and the title character in Octopussy. Both films starred Roger Moore, the third actor to play Bond.

Next year also marks the 40th anniversary of the museum and the 60th anniversary of Lord Montagu opening Palace House to the public.
