POLICE officers and firemen from Hampshire are set to take on each other in the boxing ring.

Punches will fly as the two emergency services take part in a charity boxing match.

Sixteen police officers will fight 16 firefighters at Leisure World in Southampton on March 10.

The match is in aid of two good causes - with half going to Help for Heroes and half to the Daily Echo-backed CLIC Sargent Every Step Appeal.

The cancer charity is aiming to raise £40,000 over the next year to ensure families battling the disease get vital support and advice.

The emergency services opted for the charity because of the help it has given to 15-month-old Joseph Bowen, from Gosport, who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia at just six months old.

His parents, Celine and Steve Bowen, are both Hampshire police officers.

The 1,000 tickets for the boxing night have already sold out.
