BOURNEMOUTH Airport has been recognised for its commitment to conducting business in an environmentally responsible way – both in the short and long-term.
The south coast airport has been registered to ISO 14001 with SGS United Kingdom Ltd after putting in place initiatives to minimise waste, recycle materials, reduce the risk of pollution and be energy efficient.
Bournemouth is one of only a few UK airports in the UK to achieve the standard.
Mike Twomey, head of technical services at Bournemouth Airport, said: “Implementing ISO 14001 has been a significant undertaking but we firmly believe that the benefits are substantial.
“Throughout our redevelopment programme we have introduced a wide number of measures to improve energy efficiency and we are fully committed to continually improving our environmental performance in the future.”
