A YOUNG woman was sexually assaulted in a Southampton park as she walked home with a man.

The pair had met earlier that evening at the Dungeon club in Bevois Valley Road.

Police say the 24-year-old woman was attacked in some bushes near Mount Pleasant Road between 2am and 2.30am yesterday morning.

Officers guarded a cordon at Mount Pleasant Park yesterday, as forensic experts gathered evidence at the scene.

The small, leafy park is next to Mount Pleasant Junior School and a path through it leads to Empress Road.

Anyone with information should contact the Area CID at Southampton Central police station on 101.

A 23-year-old man from Southampton has been bailed until July 27, pending further inquiries.
