A TEAM of Hampshire IT experts are to climb three of Britain’s highest peaks for charity.

Staff from Taylor Made Computer Solutions in Fareham are aiming to do the climb three of the UK’s biggest peaks in 24 hours.

Some 20 employees from the IT company will take part in the Three Peaks Challenge in September, climbing Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon in just one day.

They will battle tiredness, blisters and aching legs as they scale the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales.

The group is taking on the challenge with the aim of raising £15,000 for the Wessex Cancer Trust to help children, teenagers and adults in the Wessex area who are living with cancer and make their lives and those of their families better at a time most needed.

This would be enough to fund nearly two years’ worth of counselling services at one of their centres.

Joe Jeffers, the finance director at Taylor Made, said: “We went along to visit to talk about potential partnerships and were just blown away by the amazing work that the charity and its staff does.

“The support they provide, not just for people facing cancer, but their families too, is a real life-line and can make a huge difference.”

They will add to the money they raise on their Three Peaks Challenge sponsorship page with a series of other fundraising events, including a music night at Portsmouth Guildhall, Bag Packing at Sainsbury’s Fareham and running a ‘Paperclip Exchange Challenge’.

The Taylor Made Three Peaks team is already training hard for its challenge.

Later this month, members will head to the 3,560 foot Welsh mountain Snowdon for a training weekend, where they will climb the mountain twice.

They will also get a feel for England’s 3,209 ft Scafell Pike and Scotland’s 4,409 ft Ben Nevis as they embark on a training exercise next month.

Nigel Taylor, managing director of Taylor Made Computer Solutions, said: “I’m so proud of the team and what they are set to achieve for Wessex Cancer Trust. I’ve always known our employees have ambition, motivation and a desire to help others and this is proof of just that.”

Dawn Ingram from Wessex Cancer Trust said: “We are really excited to be partnering with Taylor Made. The support of local companies is invaluable to the trust and the money raised through this exciting challenge will allow us to help support even more people living with cancer and make their lives better at a time when it is most needed.’’
