"This was my 9th Race for life - I started in 1998 at the Victoria Country park event after a very close friend of mine died from a rare form of cancer at the age of only 16. (His story was covered by the Echo at this time) I have run every year since and unfortunatley the list of in memory seems to grow by one person I know each year.

Fortunatley there are a few happy outcomes too. My mum was diagnosed with a malagnant melonoma some 13 years ago and has been clear since finishing her check ups and another friend of my has now twice beaten Leukimia (and two different strains at that !) I can't believe how much the event has grown but it just goes to show how much this illness effects so many different people regardless of who you are or where you come from. Keep up the good work & Well done to everyone who took place - see you next year for my 10th race."
