REPORTS of 'aggressive begging' have resulted in a community protection notice being put in place in a Southampton neighbourhood.
Police announced that the order is in place in Bitterne Road West and residents are being asked to report any incidents to officers.
It comes after Hampshire Constabulary received "many complaints" about a person begging in the area, as well as in Thornhill and Southampton city centre.
A community protection warning was issued to an individual but police say this has not had an effect.
A spokesperson said: "I can confirm a community protection notice has now been issued, due to the detrimental effect on the community and its persistent nature.
"Please make sure that you continue to report these incidents to Hampshire Police.
"It may seem like we are not doing anything, and I know this has caused some frustration within the community, but we are always listening to your concerns, and a lot of work goes on behind the scenes."
