POLICE are appealing for information after a man punched a pensioner in an attempted robbery in a Southampton street.

This is the moment a man in his 70's, with impaired vision, was grabbed and punched to the ground by a man in Howards Grove.

The incident took place between 11.40am and 12pm on March 12 shortly after the pensioner had withdrawn money from Lloyd's Bank in Shirley.

A person passing by captured the incident on their mobile phone.

According to police: "The gentleman fought back and held onto his cash, but he suffered injuries to his face as a result of the incident."

The man wearing dark clothing has been described as white, aged between 35 and 40 years-old, 5ft 10in ,proportionate build with dark hair and a dark beard.

He was described as having a distinctive wearing glasses, a dark jacket, jeans, trainers and a baseball cap and walking with a distinctive open gait.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said:"We believe someone must know this man. This attack happened in broad daylight and we think the man is local to the area.
