POLICE have made an arrest after a man was found stabbed in a busy Southampton high street.

Officers were last night holding a 22-year-old in custody after a 20-year-old man suffered a single knife wound.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was treated for what was described as a “non-life threatening injury”.

Police were alerted by a member of the public who saw a man threaten another man with a knife outside a house in Shakespeare Avenue at around 9.15pm on Sunday.

There was a fight and a man ran off towards Portswood.

Officers searching the area found the victim outside the Charcoal Grill Burger and Kebab restaurant in Portswood Road.

The man believed to have carried out the attack was described as black, around 5ft 9in, aged in his late teens or early 20s and was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark coat. Police believe the stabbing could be linked to the drugs trade.
