STARLINGS have continued to amaze flocks of people in Romsey.
Murmurations have been taking place over Fishlake Meadows since the start of the year, and onlookers say as many as 100,000 birds have been seen twisting and turning as one in one of nature’s most spectacular displays.
Residents have been keen to get a glimpse of the displays, with photographers and birdwatchers joining fascinated community members in trying to see the birds.
According to the RSPB, grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands.
They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information.
