A HAMPSHIRE man who went into hospital following a fall died after getting pneumonia, an inquest heard.
Alan Moulster, 78, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital after having an unwitnessed fall at his home in Studley Avenue, Holbury, but his condition failed to improve.
Winchester Coroner's Court heard that Mr Moulster, who suffered from conditions relating to his history of alcohol abuse, was admitted to hospital on November 29, but he continued to deteriorate.
The inquest heard that Mr Moulster was suffering from hospital-acquired pneumonia following his admission, and as a result he passed away in the early hours of December 3.
Senior coroner Grahame Short said the incidents that led to Mr Moulster's death would not have happened if it weren't for the fall, and recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
