THREE areas of Southampton have seen recorded Covid cases rise steeply in the past seven days.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, Highfield and University, St Denys, and Bevois Town have all recorded hefty increases in cases in the seven days to June 10, with all areas seeing a more than 500% rise.
The interactive map shows that another area, Central Southampton West, has seen less of a rise at 144.4%, but still boasts 22 cases in the seven-day period.
Other notable areas include Central Southampton East which has seen a 200% rise with six reported cases, and Swaythling and Basset Green with both districts recording 250% rises and seven new cases each.
Below we have detailed the three areas further.
The maps, using data from Public Health England, break down the number of coronavirus cases into neighbourhoods called 'Middle Super Output Areas' (MSOAs), which are smaller than council wards and based on population rather than geographical area.
It colour-codes MSOAs depending on their seven-day rolling infection rate, with areas placed into the boundaries of 0-9 (yellow), 10-49 (light green), 50-99 (dark green), 100-199 (light blue), 200-399 (dark blue), 400 to 799 (light purple) and 800 plus (dark purple).
