SOUTHAMPTON saw a jump in coronavirus cases last week, data shows.
Data published by Public Health England shows that the number of cases in the city increased from 27 in the week leading up to June 5 to 181 in the week leading up to June 12.
The Covid-19 rate, which shows how many people in 100,000 have the virus, also increased from 10.7 per 100,000 in the week leading up to June 5 to 71.7 in the week leading up to June 12.
The figures have ebeen revealed after Dr Debbie Chase, director of public health for Southampton, urged residents to get vaccinated and continue to follow guidance and regulations.
Meanwhile data reveals that 106 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Southampton over the weekend, with another 24 diagnosed in the 24 hours leading up to 9am on Tuesday, June 15.
This brings the total number of cases in the city during the pandemic up to more than 15,200.
These cumulative figures include patients who are currently unwell, patients who have recovered, and those who have died.
