Bridgerton is set to return to Netflix on Thursday (January 29), and a new couple will be the focus of its fourth series.
Starting back in 2020, they are based on the book series of the same name by Julia Quinn.
They are set in an alternative London during the Regency era, with the main focus being on the Bridgerton family and their romantic entanglements.
Luke Thompson has played Benedict Bridgerton, the second-oldest sibling in the family, throughout the show's run, and his romance will be the focus of the fourth series.
Who will be the main couple on Bridgerton season 4?
The main romance of series 4 will be between Benedict and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
Benedict first knows her as only the Lady in Silver, after they meet at a masquerade ball, but she quickly captures his attention.
With the reluctant help of his sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie), he sets out to find her, discovering that she is a maid named Sophie working for Lady of the house, Araminta Gun (Katie Leung).
What is Bridgerton series 4 about?
The main element of series 4 will see Benedict wrestling between the reality of his affection for Sophie and the fantasy of the Lady in Silver.
The Tudum website adds: "Will Benedict’s inability to see these women as one and the same derail the undeniable spark between him and Sophie? And can love truly conquer anything?"
As reported by the Radio Times, Ha and Thompson revealed that they'll get an insight into Sophie's life as part of the "downstairs" as well as other characters who have been in the show a long time.
Ha shared: "I think that because of that whole upstairs-downstairs influence this season, I do think it's going to bring a new, fresh energy and vibe to the show."
Thompson added: "It's wonderful to have characters that have been in the show for a long time, characters like Mrs Wilson or John the footman. Like to suddenly get to see a bit more of them, that shift."
Other story threads that will be explored include Francesca's (Hannah Dodd) married life with John Stirling (Victor Alli) and her complicated dynamic with his cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza).
Additionally, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), who married Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) in the last series, faces new challenges as a now public gossip columnist.
The fourth series is adapted from the third book in Julia Quinn's series 'An Offer from a Gentleman'.
