Ex-anorexic doctor has written book about the disorder

Dr Elizabeth NcNaught, who grew up in Southampton, has battling anorexia since the age of 13.

She has now has published Life Hurts: A doctor’s personal journey through anorexia.

Having qualified as a doctor in 2016, Dr McNaught’s speech at the Royal College of Psychiatrists conference for eating disorders last November prompted publishers Malcom Down to give her an immediate book contract.

Dr McNaught – known as Lizzie to her friends – was diagnosed with anorexia at the age of 14, and since becoming a doctor claims that hospitals can take the wrong approach to recovery.

Through diary entries and letters to her younger self, Dr McNaught promises that “there’s hope for all of us”.
