Kenwyne Jones insists that the Saints squad are still confident ... despite the club's rocky run.

The Saints striker saw a late header cleared off the line as his side drew 0-0 with Hull on Saturday.

That was the latest in a series of frustrating resuts - including a Carling Cup elimination at League Two Notts County and Championship defeats to QPR, Leicester and Colchester.

In all, Saints have picked up just seven points out of the last 21 available - in contrast to picking up 16 from their first 27 of 2006/07.

However, Jones says that results in the last six weeks have NOT dented the side's belief in what they are doing.

He said: "We were definitely wanting six points from these last two home games.

"We are happy we had a clean sheet today but we are a bit frustrated we didn't get anything out of our chances.

"We can still keep our heads up going to Sunderland.

"The team spirit is there so hopefully our next away trip we can pick up three points.

"After some defeats sometimes confidence goes a little bit or team spirit goes a little bit.

"But on Wednesday night we showed we were willing to work together and be a team.

"Against Hull we did the same and hopefully we can carry that throughout the rest of the season."

Jones added: "They (Hull) came and got their job done.

"I don't think they had any intentions of winning the game. They came to sit back and get a point and they did that well.

"It was frustrating for us."
