ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger was left hoping his men did not under-estimate Saints during tonight’s 1-1 Premier League draw at St Mary’s.
The result brought the Gunners back down to earth following their 7-3 win over Newcastle at the weekend.
Arsenal are now four points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea, who also have a game in hand, and Wenger pulled no punches following the draw.
"We were not very good offensively, we didn't create enough,” he said.
“Defensively we were not too many times under threat but we didn't create enough chances.
"We just scored seven on Saturday and of course I'm afraid we lacked sharpness and desire.
"Was it deeply underestimating Southampton? I hope not."
