AFC TOTTON have missed out on a place in the Russell Cotes Cup semi-finals.
Two Nathan Kirby goals sentenced the Stags to a 2-1 defeat by Graham Rix’s AFC Portchester at the Testwood Stadium tonight.
It was the second time Portchester have beaten Totton this season, having already dumped them out of the Hampshire FA Senior Cup 3-1 at Wicor Rec.
Both Kirby goals were headers from set-pieces – the first a 37th-minute corner and the second from a free-kick two minutes from the end of normal time.
Totton, who gave fit-again Nathaniel Sherborne, above, an hour’s run-out, had equalised on 72 minutes when Luke Roberts latched onto Alex Moth’s throughball and found the bottom corner.
Portchester now host Farnborough. The other semi-final sends Fareham Town to the winners of the delayed tie between Christchurch and FA Trophy heroes Gosport Borough.
