THE lights went out early for Eastleigh tonight – but not before they had comfortably seen off St Albans City 4-1 in their latest pre-season friendly.
Floodlight failure meant the referee blew up for full- time seven minutes early at Clarence Park.
It was all square at half- time with Ben Wright’s penalty, awarded for a foul on Chris Todd, cancelled out by Danny Green.
But Eastleigh – less than two weeks away from their historic entry into the Conference Premier – ran away with it after the break through Jack Midson, under-18 graduate Tony Lee and player/assistant boss Craig McAllister.
Richard Hill’s Spitfires continue their build-up at home to Northampton Town on Friday, 7.30pm.
Defender Chris Dillon, released by the Spitfires earlier this summer, has been reunited with his old Christchurch boss Graham Kemp at Sydenhams Premier outfit Hamworthy United.
