Solent Kestrels Under-13s are still on course for a play-off spot in the National League South 1.

With six games to go, they are second in the table after a 95-30 extinguishing of Brentwood Fire II.

Kestrels' team got off to a flying start with some intensive defence and were leading 28-9 at the end of the first quarter and 54-16 at half-time.

Adam Wilkinson and Karl Teesdale distributed the ball very well with the team running good offence, a product of lots of hard work in practice in recent weeks.

Top scorers were Dan Barry (27), Jack Treacher (26) and Chris Scarlett (15).

l There was another home win for Solent's under-16s, who beat Brighton Bears 86-64 at the Quilley School of Engineering.

Solent got lots of early steals but failed to convert them to points and were just four points up at the end of the first quarter.

Josh Pape and Chris Evans shot at 100 per cent in the second quarter.

And, with play maker Andy Salmon leading the team defensively, Solent got many steals and defensive rebounds in the third.

Louie Kirkman found his form in the final quarter, scoring many of his 22 points in the last five minutes to put the game beyond Brighton's reach.

The win came a week after edging out table-topping Feltham Warriors 73-72 at Quilley School in the National League Premier Division South.

Solent started slowly, unable to execute offence well and missing high percentage shots - but Feltham also struggled to find the basket in the face of high intensity defence by Jack O'Keefe and Andy Salmon.

Solent forged ahead with some excellent shooting by Chris Evans and a buzzer-beating three pointer from Josh Pape put them 38-29 up at half-time.

But the game went down to the wire in the last quarter and it Lewis Hendon John, stepping up from the under-15s, who helped tip it Solent's way with a big performance at either end of the court.

Solent Kestrels' under-15s produced a superb return match against London Towers at Quilley School, beating them 72-64.

Having lost the previous encounter at Crystal Palace by 39 points, Solent needed a massive improvement in their execution to turn the result around.

They did it with the help of a great effort by the talented Lewis Hendon-John from Cowes High School, who finished the game with 25 points and nine rebounds, and from Spencer Wells, from Swindon, who dominated the boards and achieved a personal high of 26 points and 13 rebounds.

Sam Dye and Louie Over gave a fine demonstration of team play with ten assists between them.

Kestrels' under-14s were also on a revenge mission against Westminster Warriors, beating them 55-49 with some quality offensive play.

Despite finding themselves ten points down at the end of the first quarter, the came back to win by six.

Coach Steve Hatchett gave a special commendation to his two new forwards, Dan Harvey and Max Howard.
