SAINTS fans have expressed their disappointment that George Burley has yet to add any new faces to his promotion-chasing squad this month.

Only Saints and Leicester have yet to bring in any new players during the current transfer window.

Southampton Independent Supporters Association chairman Mick O'Callaghan said: "I was definitely expecting some signings this month.

"We need a ball winning midfielder, and I don't know why David Prutton is not getting a run-out.

"Jermaine Wright is our only ball-winning midfielder and I don't know what we would do if he was injured.

"We could also do with a strong, aggressive striker to play alongside Rasiak.

"Someone like Geoff Horsfield could do a good foil to play alongside Rasiak.

"Kenwyne Jones isn't aggressive enough.

"Birmingham and Derby are going about things the right way.

"They are above us but are still spending to improve their squad.

Uglier Inside webzine editor Nick Illingsworth added: "I'm sure all the fans are disappointed with the lack of new signings.

"I was expecting new signings by now.

"I don't know why we're keeping hold of Prutton if we're not going to play him.

"We might as well look to move him on if we can and save on his wages - he must be one of the higher wage earners.

"He's not playing even though we've got several midfielders injured, so he might as well go.

"I don't think we have been as pro-active this month as we could have been.

Fan Alan Frank, from Winchester, is "slightly disappointed that we haven't addressed areas of obvious weakness.

"Losing to QPR and Southend should have set the alarm bells ringing for Burley.

"I would have loved us to bring in someone like Todorov, a proven scorer in the Championship, and also a classy centre half.

"We're only those two players away from being top two material".
