HOSTS Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club fielded by far the youngest sides for the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Team Challenge.
All Stars (Mickey Joyce, 11, Jamie Wilson, 11, Charlie Pringle, 13 and skipper Austen Petty, 16) lost out 4-3 on tie-break frames to both finalists, Greenbaize Giants and champions Jesters Aces.
Josh Lee, skipper of the Swindon-based Jesters side, admitted their closest match was against the All Stars in which Joyce forced a tie-break frame with a 47 break, the highest of the day.
Petty’s team is made up of three players who are in their debut season on the Cuestars Gold Tour and one (Pringle) who has played only two Bronze tournaments.
Chandler’s Ford Bronze Boyz (captain Steven Hughes, 13, Bowen Zhu, 10, Connor Benzey, 12, and eight-year-old Oliver Sykes), who beat the All Stars in the final group match, have all been Cuestars members for less than a year.
