Saints defender Jordan Turnbull has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the club.

The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Swindon Town, is now under contract at St Mary’s until 2018.

Centre-half Turnbull is yet to make a first-team appearance for Saints, but has impressed for the League One Robins, where he has played 34 games.

Turnbull told the club's official website: "I’m delighted to sign a new contract here. It’s a fantastic club.

"I’ve been here for seven or eight years and I think it’s a great opportunity for me to push on now.

"I’m out on loan at the moment and to know they’re keeping an eye on me and keep watching me is fantastic.

"I’m looking to come back here in pre-season and show the coach what I can do.

"My aim is to obviously break into the first team and become a regular player at Southampton Football Club."
