RYAN Bertrand played 45 minutes for the Saints U21 side as they drew 0-0 with Spurs U21s lthis evening.

The left-back is aiming to get back to match fitness having just served a three-match suspension for his red card in the 1-0 home defeat against Swansea.

Bertrand played the first half of a hard-fought draw against the visitors, who have the lowest goals tally in the top half of the U21 league – and the second-meanest defence.

A strong Saints forward line put plenty of pressure on the North Londoners, who had the South African international Bongani Khumalo in central defence. But despite both keepers being called into action on occasion, the match ended scoreless.
