The winger today welcomed a group of youngsters to St Mary’s Stadium and spoke to them about the issue of racial discrimination and its dangers.
Pupils from Thornhill, Springhill Catholic and St Mary’s Primary Schools listened to the 28-year-old and asked him questions about the subject, as part of an event organised by the Show Racism the Red Card charity.
Elia explained how he was pleased to be able to help educate the children on the subject.
“I had to tell the kids that racism is not allowed and that they are the future, that their generation should stick together, that everybody’s the same,” he said.
“They are the future. They can teach the best they can to the community.”
