Saints winger Eljero Elia has missed out on making the final Netherlands squad for their games against Turkey and Spain this month.

The on-loan Werder Bremen player, who has not represented his country since 2012, had been included on Guus Hiddink's provisional list.

However, he was not among the 24 players named by the Dutch boss today.

Holland will host Turkey in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Saturday, March 28, before facing Spain three days later in a friendly at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Hiddink's team are third in Group A, having won two and lost two of their opening four games - putting them six points behind leaders Czech Republic and three back of Iceland.

Turkey are a place below them and two points behind.
