Saints fan I Griffiths has sent the Daily Echo a letter regarding George Burley's decision to loan out David Prutton to Nottingham Forest.

IN the January transfer market all the hype may have been over Garath Bale and will he or won't he leave?' and for how much?

But slipping through without much notice was the loss of a brilliant player David Prutton, one of the hardest working and most popular players the club has seen in recent years.

Does George Burley realise what a major mistake he's made?

All Prutts wanted to do was play football but Burley didn't give him a chance, preferring Indigo Idiakez (a player not even worthy of calling himself a footballer) and certainly not worthy of pulling on our beloved red and white stripes.

Prutts always gave us 120 per cent and, yes, he wasn't perfect, he made mistakes.

But he was big enough and man enough to stand up and say sorry and take his punishment - some Premier players could learn a hell of a lot from him.

I mean Wayne Rooney etc.

Every time Prutts played he gave us 120 per cent and even played with a broken foot (QPR last season).

At Manchester City, Mr Burley preferred Nathan Dyer (who wasn't matchfit) to David.

I'm sure if Prutts had been on the bench he wouldn't have minded, but the manager played McGoldrick, another player just like Idiakez.

Both Idiakez and McGoldrick have proven themselves out of their league.

He (Mr Burley) keeps Michael Svensson who's had set back after set back with injury, but allows Marian Pahars to go, who is now playing overseas and doing well.

I'm not saying everything Mr Burley has done is wrong - he's done a lot of brilliant stuff so far, he brought us Ostlund etc.

I just wish George would listen to the fans as well as the players.

After all, we pay his wages.
