RED Bull Junior driver Dean Stoneman collected more valuable championship points in race one of the fourth round of the Renault World Series 3.5 Championship.
The 24 year-old from Bishops Waltham started from an uncharacteristic sixth row of the grid after a frustrating morning qualifying session in Budapest, Hungary.
But Stoneman made up four places to seventh as early as the first lap. From there, he battled hard for sixth and on lap five secured it to claim eight valuable points.
Stoneman said:“From where we started, sixth is a good result. Although it’s hard to overtake here I managed to make up some places, but sixth isn’t where I want to be too often.
“Qualifying was a little frustrating and I couldn’t seem to get a clean lap in due to being blocked several times.”
Stoneman was fourth in the championship before finishing 12th in race two.
