STEVE Hollick insists AFC Totton are determined to “get things sorted” at home to Mangotsfield United tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) following another hefty away defeat at North Leigh on Saturday.

After leaking six at Evesham two weeks previously, the Stags were again on the end of a painful hiding as they succumbed 5-0 at Eynsham Park. It was their third straight defeat in the Southern One South & West.

They trailed 2-0 at half-time to their third-placed hosts, stung by goals from Kieran Sanders and Elliott Osborne-Ricketts.

And once North Leigh’s third had gone in, courtesy of Michael Hopkins’ deflected free-kick on 74 minutes, Totton immediately conceded another as Osborne-Ricketts struck again, before Morgan Williams killed them off.

“We conceded two sloppy goals first-half and, when they got a third, the confidence got knocked out of the lads and it was difficult to come back from,” said manager Hollick.

“We had a good chat after the game and there were a few home truths spoken and the senior lads had an input in that.

“It’s another setback for us, but we’re determined to get it sorted.

“The pitch was awful on Saturday, really wet, and there’s a big slope too. Everyone who goes there knows they need to play the conditions as well as playing North Leigh, but we didn’t do that.

“We’ve got to get a bit of consistency in our performances, stay in games as long as we can and try and get back to winning ways.

“The main thing is we all stick together and work hard to get out of it. What’s done is done, we can’t dwell on it, we have to get back to training and get this resolved.

“We need to realise how difficult this league really is. We can’t give teams a head start like we did on Saturday.”

Young midfielder Jack Alexander is now a permanent Totton player having been released by Eastleigh at the end of November.

The side will be boosted tomorrow by the return of widemen Mike Gosney (ankle injury) and Nick Watts (one-match ban), while experienced midfielder Dave Allen came through 45 minutes for the reserves following ankle ligament damage.

Tomorrow's teams sit side by side in the table with Totton, 16th, trailing the 15th-placed Mangos by three points.
