THORNDEN Tennis Club are celebrating an extraordinary run of wins in the Aegon Tennis Leagues.
Most impressive has been the men’s team, supported by Snows Motor Group, which has sealed promotion to the Aegon National League.
Playing in the regional south west (east) league the team had wins against North Oxford which was won in a “shoot-out” (7-6) after the scores were tied, Maidenhead 12-0, David Lloyd Milton Keynes 10–2, Windsor 10-2, Caversham 10-2 and Salisbury 5-1.
The team was selected from: Paul Scullard (Captain), Karim Aouichaoui, Michael Johnson, James Blair, Harry Dunnett , Graham Neale, Tim Cook and David Darrock.
Thornden Tennis Club has already secured three Aegon County Leagues this season.
The Girls’ 16 & Under team (Lydia Kelly, Magda Kornicjzuk, Anna Vinnell and Jocelyn Kwan) beat Portsmouth Tennis Academy, Winchester and Hampshire Club.
The Boys 16 & Under team (James Blair, Mats Colling, Joseph Henbury, and Tom Vinnell) beat Winchester and Avondale and the Boys 14 & Under (James Ardley, Milan Bharadia, Leo Gamon, James Overton, Nishant Talpallikar and Todd Elliott) beat Winchester, Kingsley and Swanmore.
They all finished the season unbeaten.
