THE unpredictable nature of racing was never better illustrated when Chris Gordon sent out five runners yesterday - and all five won.
The Morestead trainer enjoyed a treble at Plumpton and a double at Stratford, just days after losing Disputed in a freak accident.
Gordon, who has been in blistering form of late, fancied his chances in the Imperial Cup at Sandown on Saturday, but the horse broke a hind leg and had to be put down.
"It's a tough old game," said Gordon who had also lost an old favourite in The Chuckmeister last month.
"We've had a relatively quiet season and only got into double figures a couple of weeks ago."
Gordon, who has 33 horses in his yard, sent out Tara Bridge and Howlongisafoot at Stratford, and topped that with a treble with Starkie, Ballyheigue Bay and Funny Oyster at Plumpton at cumulative odds of 934-1.
He only saddles one horse at the Cheltenham Festival, with Remiluc in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys Handicap.
