Newly promoted Hythe & Dibden will have 20-year old Kiwi all-rounder Tarin Mason as their overseas player for this season’s Hampshire League County Division 1 campaign.
Tarin played in the West Country last summer, helping Hayle win the Cornwall County Division 1 title, with 25 wickets and over 300 runs, mainly batting in a lower-order all-rounder’s slot.
He plays for Marlborough Falcons in the Tasman Premier League in New Zealand and assumes the overseas role from the influential Australian Luke Hodges, who led last season’s CD2 promotion push with 458 runs and 29 wickets.
Tarin will captained at Jones Lane by Tom Richards, who succeeds James Page in the Hythe hot seat after three successive promotions have catapulted the Waterside club back to County 1 after a 28-year absence.
Hythe are, however, anxious to boost their strength by signing a spin bowler of County 1 pedigree.
