TOM Alsop provided a reminder of his talents with an unbeaten 68 Hampshire II beat their Sussex counterparts in a T20 encounter at Newclose on the Isle of Wight.

Brad Taylor, who took 6-23 in the three-day draw against the same opposition earlier this week, took 3-31 and Chris Wood 2-19 as Sussex were restricted to 119-9.

There were also wickets for Jacob Lintott (3-0-16-2), Matt Salisbury (3-0-11-1) and Chris Sole (4-0-23-1).

Alsop faced 55 balls for his 68 (seven fours, one six) as Hampshire won by six wickets with nine balls to spare.

Jimmy Adams (3) and Calvin Dickson (0) were out to successive deliveries from seamer Stuart Whittingham (2-20).

But Alsop added 51 in seven overs with Felix Organ (22 from 26 balls) and another 25 with Ian Holland (12) before Tom Scriven (7no) kept him company as he guided Hampshire to their target.

Hampshire have back-to-back three-day/T20 games against Gloucestershire next week.

They play at Bristol University in the Second Eleven Championship from Monday.

The T20 game is played at Clifton College next Thursday
