RYAN Bertrand scored his first international goal, a long-range strike, as a lacklustre England won last night’s World Cup qualifier 4-0 away to Malta.
The Saints left-back’s 85th-minute strike added gloss as Malta conceded three late goals.
Two-goal Harry Kane and Danny Welbeck ensured a flattering scoreline against a Malta side ranked 190th in the world.
Elsewhere, Steven Davis scored a penalty to complete Northern Ireland’s 3-0 win away to San Marino.
