Ryan Brooks had terrific summer for Tichborne Park’s second team, topping the Hampshire League, County Division 3 North batting charts with 800 runs.

He rattled off three centuries against Chawton (156), Hartley Wintney (135) and Steeple Langford (116), besides making several half-centuries.

The 20-year old opening batsman/wicketkeeper also helped Tichborne Park win the Winchester & District CA Tichborne Trophy T20.

Brooks was all set to win the CD3 North batting prize – when, previously unknown to the Hampshire League, he was a visiting Australian, from New South Wales, and due to an oversight had not been registered by Tichborne Park to play in the competition.

The administrative slip has cost Tichborne Park dear – and their place in County 3 North.

The HCL has imposed a thumping 240 point deduction, leaving Tichborne bottom of the division and relegated.

It means a double demotion for the Alresford club, whose first team finished bottom of Southern Premier League Division 1 this past season.
