ALRESFORD Town boss Richard Luffman ran the gamut of emotions during Saturday’s 1-1 Sydenhams Premier draw at Shaftesbury.
Having taken the lead through Aaron Blaxall 12 minutes in, the Mapgies were pegged back by Tom Cowley’s equaliser.
“It was a funny game for us,” Luffman reflected. “We dominated the opening 60 and the game should have been buried, but it wasn’t.
“They then finished the better and, in the end, we were fortunate to leave with a point.
“I had some words after and I’ll be looking for a reaction.”
Luffman plans to field a “very different 11” for tomorrow's (Tuesday, 7.45pm) Sydenhams League Cup third round tie at Hamble Club.
The Monks are on a high after Saturday’s 4-1 win at Westfields in the FA Vase fourth round and Luffman, for one, couldn’t be happier for them.
“Hamble have done so well as a club to reach the last 16 and congratulations to them on a fantastic achievement,” he said.
“Most people would have had them as underdogs, but I knew 100 per cent they’d win. They have a lot of big-game players.”
Tomorrow's victors will be away to Sydenhams One outfit Fawley AFC in the quarter-finals.
Sydenhams League Cup quarter-finals: AFC Portchester v Andover New Street, Blackfield & Langley v Hamworthy United, Fawley AFC v Hamble Club or Alresford Town, Newport IW v Sholing.
