HAVE you always fancied giving sailing a go but not sure where to start? Want to get your kids for a session out on the water? Or just want to try something completely different? Push the Boat Out 2018 is a great scheme run by the Royal Yachting Association at hundreds of clubs around the country - including several in Hampshire.

From May 12-20 you can try sailing and windsurfing for free at no fewer than seven clubs in the Southampton area with RYA Push The Boat Out 2018.

Each club will hold one or more taster days when they open up their doors to welcome families and individuals of all abilities to come and experience the thrill of an outing on the water.

RYA Push The Boat Out is all about getting people afloat who might never have known there was even the chance to try sailing near them.

All equipment will be provided, just bring a change of clothes, trainers and a towel.

Sessions are a minimum of 30 minutes and can be longer, With Push the Boat Out, you will be able to get out on the water with experienced volunteers from the clubs in a boat which is suitable for you, your family or friends, whatever your age, ability or experience.

You might want a leisurely sail with your family on a sedate boat, or get to crew on a fast dinghy to experience something a bit more high-octane and adrenaline fuelled.

You will also discover you don’t even need a boat to learn to sail locally, as the county’s clubs and centres have ones you can use. Family membership at your local club could cost just £20 a month.

Most clubs have clubhouse facilities, which include lounges, up-to-date changing areas and rooms dedicated to learning to sail.
