SALISBURY have re-signed their former midfielder Tom Whelan.

Whelan left the Whites at the end of last season to ply his trade nearer his Liverpool home and become involved in League football.

But he has returned down south and Salisbury boss Steve Claridge was quick to get him involved again.

Claridge said: "We jumped at the chance to get Tom back.

"He was with us since the start of our new club and had been one of our best players. He will take us to a new level."

Whelan went straight into the team on Saturday and played his part in newly-promoted Salisbury's first win of the Evo-Stik Premier South campaign.

They convincingly beat Dorchester Town 3-0 through Dan Fitchett, Jake Wannell and Luke Hopper.

This Saturday Claridge's men host Sydenhams Wessex Premier outfit Hamble Club in the FA Cup preliminary round.
