WINCHESTER City and Blackfield & Langley are leading the local charge in the Evo-Stik Division One South.

Both have banked maximum points from their opening two fixtures.

Newly-promoted Blackfield won their second game 2-0 at Fleet Town this evening, but the night belonged to Winchester who came back from two down to beat FA Vase holders Thatcham Town 3-2.

To complete an excellent Tuesday for local clubs, AFC Totton got their first goal and first win, beating Moneyfields 1-0 at the Testwood Stadium.

Winchester’s was the proverbial game of two halves with Thatcham taking a 2-0 lead into half-time courtesy of Shane Cooper-Clarke’s third-minute penalty, awarded for handball, and James Clark’s 18th-minute strike.

But, within four minutes of the restart, Reece Rusher had pulled one back for the Citizens who then drew level with Joe Cook’s dipping shot from distance.

In a frantic finale City were reduced to ten men and then Thatcham’s Gareth Thomas felt he had scored from a corner but, with the Berkshire side celebrating, the referee ruled it had not crossed the line.

Quick as a flash, Winchester broke down the other end where Tyrell Mitford grabbed the 87th-minute winner.

Ex-Eastleigh midfielder Owen Fee had a mixed night for Blackfield at Fleet.

It was his 54th-minute penalty that doubled the Watersiders’ advantage after Liam Robinson had opened the scoring, but he was later sent off for retaliation after appearing to be caught by an elbow.

Craig Feeney’s late first-half strike carried AFC Totton to victory in front of a 359 crowd – the division’s highest of the evening.

Toby Adekunle found himself in acres of space out wide and drilled a low cross to the far post where Feeney tapped in.

The Stags could have had more with Stuart Green's cross-shot cannoning off the bar and Feeney firing a couple of good opportunities wide.
