WINCHESTER City are a high-flying second in the Evo-Stik Division One South after reeling off their third straight league win.
The Citizens trail early pace-setters Yate Town only on goal difference thanks to a 2-0 bank holiday victory at Moneyfields.
“We were outstanding, brilliant, the best performance we’ve had,” enthused boss Craig Davis.
Having soaked up some early pressure, City led on the half-hour when Oli Bailey flicked on for Jamie Barron to smash in off the underside of the bar.
Had it not been for Moneys’ ex-Totton keeper Steve Mowthorpe, Winchester would have run away with it.
“He made five or six unbelievable saves and I wondered if we’d be made to pay,” said Davis.
“Moneyfields threw six up front but we made a big clearance and Oli (Bailey) has broken at the end to make it 2-0.
“I’m immensely proud of the lads, they gave it everything. Second half was all us.”
