SAINTS full-back Sam McQueen has headed on loan to Championship side Middlesbrough for the season.
McQueen joins Boro as they chase promotion to the Premier League after Mark Hughes allowed the versatile 23-year-old to leave St Mary's for the season.
The former Southend United loanee has made 29 appearances for Saints and really came to prominence under Claude Puel, who converted McQueen from an attacking midfielder into a full-back.
In the 2016/17 campaign he made his first Saints start at the San Siro as Saints took on Inter Milan in the Europa League.
He followed that up with his first Premier League start at Manchester City.
Saints wrote: "Everyone at Southampton wishes Sam well for the season and will be monitoring his progress throughout the campaign."
