AMESBURY moved to the top of the Wessex League Division One after winning 4-2 away at Andover Town.

Danny Finnigan led the way with a superb hat-trick and Robbie Owen scored the other goal.

The game also saw Connor Palmer made his 200th appearance for Amesbury in the win.

After the game Amesbury boss Dave Coker said: "It was certainly a tough test on an extremely poor surface, as Andover are without any groundsman nowadays."

"The 4-2 scoreline really did flatter Andover. Yet another story of so many missed chances from us.

He added: "All in all, the three points was what we needed and we now move forwards to a Salisbury Hospital Cup game at home to Ludgershall on Tuesday night.

"This is followed by a tough run of three league games away to US Portsmouth on Saturday, then away to AFC Stoneham on the Tuesday after, before Hythe and Dibden at home."
