THE funeral of Hamworthy United goalkeeping coach Ben Scott will be held at Poole Crematorium on Monday, October 15 at 2.30pm.

Sydenhams Premier club Hamworthy will be holding the wake after the service and would like members of the local footballing community – preferably wearing Hammers’ claret and blue - to share a drink and celebrate Ben’s life.

Emotional Hamworthy boss Callum Brooks dedicated United’s 2-0 home win over Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday to the memory of Ben, who passed away last week after suffering a cardiac arrest while at work.

Brooks said: “The result and performance from everyone at the club, senior players and staff, was for Ben.

“Ben was different class. He gave me total support when I came to the club.”

Several clubs from across the Wessex area held a minute’s silence for Ben on Saturday.

Family flowers only are requested for the funeral but a Just Giving page has been set up, directly linked to Football For Cancer, a charity which Ben supported.
