WINCHESTER City bowed out of the FA Trophy in a marathon replay against Slimbridge tonight.

But the Citizens, saddened by news of the death of life vice-president Terry Bone, did their most passionate supporter proud before finally losing out on penalties.

Jamie Barron and Tyrell Mitford twice put City ahead in normal time, but Slimbridge clawed their way back on each occasion.

Winchester got their noses in front yet again in extra-time with master marksman Mitford converting from the penalty spot but, yet again, the Swans found a way back, making it 3-3.

It went to a penalty shootout and it was Slimbridge who prevailed 6-5 at the Simplyhealth City Ground.

Paying tribute to the much-loved Terry Bone, a Winchester City FC statement said: “Terry has been involved with the football club for many years and has been a loyal supporter. He will be sadly missed by everyone associated with the club."

Meanwhile AFC Totton and Blackfield & Langley are safely through to the Southern League Challenge Cup second round.

Totton won the all-Division One South tie 3-1 against Moneyfields, while Blackfield overcame Premier South outfit Gosport Borough in a 4-3 thriller at Privett Park.

After Stuart Green had put Totton ahead, Steve Hutchings capitalised on hesitation by young loan keeper Adam Siviter to draw Moneys level.

Craig Feeney restored the Stags’ lead and then took advantage of a defensive mix-up and squared for Charlie Gunson to bury.

New signing Matt Mayes, a former Portsmouth youngster, fired Blackfield 2-1 up at Gosport after Charlie Urry had snuffed out Matt Tubbs’ opener for the hosts.

Owen Fee made it 3-1 before Tubbs and then Urry struck again for 4-2. Sub Ryan Pennery pulled another one back for Gosport on 90 minutes, but it was too little too late for Craig McAllister's men.

Sholing strengthened their grip on the Sydenhams Premier top spot with a 6-1 thrashing of rock-bottom Andover New Street.

Goals by Dan Mason top and tailed the victory. Lee Wort also bagged a brace, as well as having a penalty saved, and Jake Hoole and Alex Sawyer (penalty) netted one apiece.

Victory leaves the Boatmen three points clear at the summit.

Lymington Town, the division's only other unbeaten side, climbed to fifth with a 4-1 win over Christchurch - an own goal, Jake King, Lewis Ross and Charlie Willett doing the damage.
