Mark Hughes has given his thoughts ahead of the Watford game on Saturday.

Saints’ manager spoke about Les Reed's departure, the importance of the Watford match, team news, training at St Mary's and the danger men this weekend's opposition have in their ranks.

1. Les Reed's departure:

“It was a surprise to everybody.

“I had no inclination about it and it’s sad for Les.

“The club feels that they have to go in a different direction and we have to move on and focus on the job in hand.”

2. The importance of the Watford match:

“It will be a test that we need to get ready for.

“If we can get a positive result then the noise and negativity around the club will go elsewhere for a number of weeks.

“The only we change that rpepssure around us at the moment is by winning games, we know that.”

3. The latest team news:

“We are ok.

“We have a little bit of a doubt over Wesley Hoedt who has an infection in his foot. He didn’t train today.

“There is a concern about Mario Lemina who has a slight strain in his thigh, but I think he’ll be available for the weekend.”

4. Training at St Mary's:

“I think everybody knows that if we keep doing the same things it shows a sign of madness.

“Sometimes you need to mix things up and we’ll see at the weekend if it makes an impact.

“It doesn’t harm anything by having a change of scenery.”

5. Watford's danger men:

“They have a group of players who work together well.

“The boy Roberto Pereyra is having an impact on them and is playing well.

“But we have to make sure our talent supersedes what they have.”
