SAINTS striker Sam Gallagher is yet to recover from his injury.
Mark Hughes revealed that the 23-year-old has had a number of issues with his hamstring which has seen him face a lengthy spell out of the squad.
The injury list isn’t getting any shorter for Hughes’ side with Danny Ings also a ‘big doubt’ for tomorrow’s match.
Fellow striker, Shane Long, is also in the treatment room after ruling himself out of the Republic of Ireland's fixtures last week with an ankle injury.
And Saints’ boss revealed the frustration behind Gallagher’s unavailability.
“He (Gallagher) is still injured. He isn’t an option and will be a number of weeks yet,” Hughes said.
“It’s a shame because he is very close and this year I was hoping to give him a little bit of game time in the League Cup, but injuries stopped us having that option.
“Sam has got a lot of attributes that would help us. He is a big guy, young, talented and a lot of power and pace.
“It’s a shame he is unavailable.”
